Graham-White To Showcase Wide Range of Products at 2005 American Public Transit Conference

Graham-White Manufacturing Company, the industry leader in the manufacture of air drying technology, heavy-duty pneumatic and electro-pneumatic valves and accessories, will showcase a variety of innovative products and technologies at the American Public Transit Association's 2005 International Expo, Sept. 26-28 in Dallas, Texas.

"This Expo will prove to be an exciting one for Graham-White, since we have a variety of new products which are coming on-line," says Met Dalipi, Rail Transit Business Manager. Dalipi adds that economic growth, combined with increased public transit usage, should result in a strong rail transit market in the foreseeable future. More than 800 exhibitors are expected at the event, which occurs only every three years.

Graham-White will host an interactive, 400 square-foot display booth at the conference, designed to give visitors hands-on experience with its time-tested, as well as, new product lines. Detailed technical papers and results of recent environmental and field tests will be available for both OEM and retrofit product applications.

"We're pleased to be able to showcase the depth of our product line, as well as unveil some unique products designed to increase safety and save money for transit system operators," says Dalipi. "Our company is very proud of the ergonomic design and reliability of these products and how well they have been received by our customers."

Products on display will include:

  • SafeSet™ Locomotive Wheel Style Brake - This push-button wheel style braking system recently received rave reviews from Union Pacific RR and Norfolk Southern Corporation as well as Electro-Motive Diesel while testing at TTC in Pueblo, CO. The brake, which includes a manual option for situations in which electricity is not available, performed flawlessly in lab testing as well, with 35,000 applications. An early production run will launch in summer, 2005. A video showing the parking brake in action can be viewed at the booth.
  • Computerized Single Car Test Device - This device uses an integrated PC or attached PC to remotely test the integrity of the freight car brakes while increasing the reliability and providing documentation of maintenance inspections. The Computerized Single Car Test Device will meet all AAR standards and is expected to be in production after the first of the year.
  • 994-500 Air Dryer - the newest version of air dryer to use Graham-White's innovative technology to produce clean, oil-free, dry compressed air for use in locomotives, the 994-500 offers a lower-cost alternative for locomotives operating in the range of 3,000-4,000 hp. The 994-500 is fully interchangeable with the "life cycle cost saving" 994-100 series and has half the moving parts of the original 975 Series line, saving the customer both initial and upkeep expense.
  • 995 Air Dryer System - The custom design features of the 995 Air System make it a perfect match for the rigorous needs of the rail transit industry. Typical rail transit space limitations are of no concern, and 995 Air Dryer System can be mounted inside the present D-4 air compressor frame.
    • Other products primarily targeted to the Truck and Bus Division will include:

      • SludgeBraker™ Air Dryer System - This dual tower regenerative air dryer was specifically designed to handle the critical demands of Severe-Duty environments such as that of an inter-city transit bus brake air system and waste management vehicles. The compact design includes 3 phases of filtration and two desiccant towers that remove virtually all traces of sludge, carbon, oil, and water. Life cycles for all pneumatic equipment increase dramatically.
